Kaopu Studio was founded in 2022 by Shuntao Li.

Originally from Xi’an, China, Shuntao is a London-based illustrator and graphic designer. She is also a printmaker working primarily with screen printing. Drawing inspiration from Chinese traditional crafts such as paper cutting, her work is visually striking and culturally engaging with a unique blend of tradition and contemporary expression. 

Shuntao’s work centre around the theme of spirituality and female power. Her artwork invites introspection and empowerment. She believes that art is a powerful tool for social change and aims to inspire and empower women through her work.

‘Kaopu’ - 靠谱 (pronounced “kao” with a falling tone and “poo” with a falling-rising tone) means reliable and trustworthy in Chinese. This endearing term is actually Shuntao’s nickname, given by her friends who consider her of the most dependable friends they know!
